Everyone has feelings, and dealing with those feelings is not always easy. Our feelings are sometimes hard to control and can make life become very confusing. However, if we do not learn to control our feelings, eventually they will control us. In this series, we’ll take a look at some of the most common feelings students have and learn how to deal with them effectively.

Football fever is upon us. Whether it’s watching, playing or making fun of it, everyone likes football. That’s why Eleven is hosting its first-ever smallgroup-vs-smallgroup flag football tournament. If you’re a student in grades 6 through 12, then this is for you. Come play, watch, chill and simply have a great time while we compete to find our very own football champs. A small fee of $15 covers your tournament play, lunch and an official BB t-shirt. You really can’t beat that!

Blitz Bowl is a Grace Community Church organized flag-football event. Teams are pre-defined based on Eleven Youth smallgroups. If you don’t have a smallgroup, or don’t which one you’re in, contact Ana Horn at (713) 363-2552 or ahorn@grace.tv to figure it out. Lunch will be provided for all participants that pay at the event and get a wristband. The winning team from both junior high and senior high tournaments will receive a pizza party for their entire smallgroup.

Once we’re exhausted and sore from a full day on the gridiron, what better way to rehab than a party! That’s right, we’re gonna celebrate our winners and watch the big game together at our annual Super Bowl watching party. This event is totally free and totally awesome. We’ll have the game in HD on eleven big screens, as well as free food, drinks, and plenty of seating. We’re starting off the new year in style, don’t miss it!

We’re celebrating the holidays, Eleven style. Come party with us Wednesday, December 9th at Grace.

Rock out with the Eleven band to your favorite holiday music and sing it yourself at Christmas karaoke. Eat up some nachos, cookies, hot cocoa and other holiday snacks! Take fun pics with your friends at our Christmas Photostation, and Santa’s coming early with some Christmas giveaways.

Christmastacular also gives us an opportunity to remember the reason for the season. Join with us as we bring washed, gently used clothes for a local Houston homeless shelter.

So dig out that old Christmas sweater Grandma got you, and we’ll see you there!

New Series: The Fabulous Life Of

This past Wednesday we started a new series called The Fabulous Life Of. The Bible isn’t just “a book of stuff that happened”. It’s a recording of real lives and real people with real stories. In The Fabulous Life Of series, we will take a look at five heavy hitters of the Bible and walk through their fabulous lives. Each one will captivate you and challenge you specifically.

Here are the lives we’ll be breaking down each week:

Camp09 Super Early Deadline
An application along with a $100 deposit is due to lock into the $240 rate. Any applications and deposits turned in AFTER May 13th, will only be eligible for the $260 and $280 rate.

Candle Fundraiser
For all of you who participated in the Scented Candle fundraiser, order forms and money is due.
Please make sure your name is on the order form and on the envelope you turn your money in with.
Products will be delivered in 2 weeks.

Next Fundraiser
The next fundraiser is the Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits.
This starts this Wednesday night.

Camp09 Fundraisers – Free Money*

*Okay, so maybe it’s not necessarily free money. But below is the schedule and list of all the fundraising opportunities for Camp09. If you’re interested in going to Camp09, then you should definitely mark these dates and try to get involved to do as many as possible. All of these options have great profit potential; earning something on every fundraiser will help lower your Camp09 cost tremendously. Make sure you know when the fundraiser begins and when the money and orders are due. Each Wednesday night at Eleven we will have fundraising information at the Camp09 table in the Venue Auditorium to get information and to turn in money and orders.

Scented Candles – begins April 29th, ends May 13th.
Students will receive order forms to sell 5 different shapes of candles. Each shape have a choice of 5 different scents. Students will make 50% of each item they sell. For example, if a student sells a $12 candle, he or she will get $6 towards his or her camp.

Little Caesars Pizza Kits – begins May 13th, ends May 27th.
Students will receive order forms to sell Little Caesar Pizza kits. Each kit comes with everything you need to make 3 delicious family-size pizzas at home in less than 10 minutes. All items are individually packaged and can be stored in the fridge or freezer. This fundraiser does not only sell pizza but also the famous Crazy Bread kits and Italian Cheese Bread kits. Students will make $5 for each item they sell.

Jog-A-Thon – June 20th at 9:30am. (Pledge forms available on June 3).
Students who participate will run/walk/jog on a track for exactly 1 hour on the given date. However, starting June 3rd, students will take their pledge form around and ask for people to ‘pledge’ a certain amount of money per lap they run to help send them to camp. Or, they can receive a one time donation. So a student may get someone to pledge $1 per lap and in the hour, that student does 20 laps. He then will collect $20 from that person. Or a person may just give $10 as a one time donation for the student to complete the hour. One time donations DO NOT mean the student can not actually participate in the jog-a-thon.

Church Lunch – Date TBD.
This is the only fundraiser that is limited in the number that can participate. Only 15 students can participate for this fundraiser. These students will help set up, package the lunch, and aid in the distribution of food. We are selling each box lunch for $5 (the food will be donated by a local restaurant). They must arrive at church by 10am. Students will go to service through worship, then exit out of service to the Venue Room to begin preparations. They will stay after church, after all food is sold, and after clean up is complete (at around 12 or 12:30). The profit will then only be divided among the 15 that were there to help. Sign up for this fundraiser will be the Wednesday night before the Sunday we sell the lunches.

Miscellaneous Fundraisers
Each student’s individual smallgroup will also be allowed to conduct a car wash or garage sale to raise money for his or her groups. This will be coordinated through each smallgroup leader, not the youth office.

Also, mow lawns, babysit, or walk pets for extra cash. Camp is still 3 months away and every little bit helps.

Camp09 Is Here – Something New

Some will go because of the exhausting fun; and others for the unforgettable memories. Some have never been. And some are just obsessed with the blob. But whatever the reason, this summer, hundreds of students will pack up suitcases, cram out buses, and make their way to summer camp. We want you there too! Come spend early mornings, crazy afternoons, and late nights with us as we take a journey into something new.
